Since our main CVPHM website went live in 2006, the relentless pace of rural Post Office closures has picked up. With it has come an increase in the rate of disappearance of Ludlow boxes across the country. In spite of Royal Mail's much heralded 2003 policy on safeguarding our national street furniture heritage, boxes are still being routinely removed and destroyed by contractors working for RoMEC, who are often ignorant of the regulations, operating with no direct supervision from Royal Mail staff. We are trying to capture as many of them as possible on camera before they disappear. In addition, archive images are being added wherever the location can be identified.
